Damir Tomicic kindly invited by the Center for Data Innovation joined a thoughtful discussion in International Press Center in Brussels about the future of technology in Europe, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Cloud, including opportunities to build and expand on successes to increase the use of data throughout the public and private sector.

With the adoption of the EU’s AI Act—hailed as the GDPR of artificial intelligence—businesses must proactively address how AI will shape their future strategies and operations. Internal auditors play a critical role in assessing the impact of these rapid technological advancements on their organization’s risk landscape while leveraging AI’s potential to enhance audit processes. Striking the balance between AI as a driver of growth and the risks it introduces demands that internal audit takes a leadership role in guiding businesses toward compliance with emerging AI regulations.

The list of distinguished panelists included Alexander De Croo, Prime Minister of Belgium, Liam Benham, Vice President of Government Affairs, IBM, members of the European Parliament Michal Boni, and Victor Negrescu, Kaja Kallas (former Prime Minister of Estonia), Beatrice Covassi, Deputy Head for the Data Value Chain Unit, European Commission, and Lenard Koschwitz, Director of European Affairs, Allied for Startups.
