As the founder and CEO of Business in Tech, Damir is dedicated to empowering companies to seamlessly integrate cutting-edge technologies like Cloud and AI into their strategic business models. His consultancy specializes in creating competitive products, implementing innovative strategies, and navigating the complexities of the modern tech landscape.

In addition to his role at Business in Tech, Damir serves as Co-CEO and Chief Strategy Officer at run.events, where he leads business development and strategy. At run.events, he is redefining event management with a cloud-based SaaS platform designed to meet the exacting needs of professional event organizers, offering a transformative solution for the industry.

Leading the charge in AI-powered event orchestration, run.events has developed the Event Intelligence Cloud (EIC), an innovative multi-agentic AI system that represents the next evolution in event management technology. This intelligent network of specialized AI agents collaborates seamlessly across every aspect of event planning and execution, from attendee experience optimization and resource allocation to predictive analytics and real-time decision-making. The system’s ability to learn, adapt, and optimize ensures flawless delivery whether orchestrating intimate 50-person gatherings or managing complex conferences with 150,000 attendees.

The Journey

Damir’s entrepreneurial journey began with the co-founding of Axinom Group, where he spent 23 years as CEO and CFO. Under his leadership, Axinom grew into a global software powerhouse, delivering innovative solutions to the aerospace, media, and entertainment industries. Before founding Axinom, he held executive roles at a Deutsche Telekom subsidiary, spearheading pioneering B2B e-commerce strategies that reshaped the digital marketplace.

Damir’s academic foundation in theoretical computer science from Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nürnberg informs his approach to solving complex challenges at the convergence of business and technology. This expertise has made him a trusted advisor to senior leaders in both startups and global corporations, helping them align technological innovation with real business value.

His influence extends beyond the private sector. Damir has worked with the European Commission and European Parliament to advance initiatives for a Digital Single Market in Europe, and has collaborated with the German and Estonian governments to foster German-Baltic business relations, enhance digital public services, and promote digital identity initiatives. In his role, he has delivered impactful speeches at the United Nations during the Internet Governance Forums in Nairobi, Kenya, at the European Parliament in Brussels, and at the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C.

Passionate about community-building, Damir co-founded INETA (International .NET Association), where he served as President Europe for nearly 20 years, growing the organization into the world’s largest and most influential Microsoft Developer community with over two million members. He also served as Co-President Europe for IASA (International Association of Software Architects), championing the role of software architects in the IT industry.

Today, he serves in multiple ambassadorial and leadership roles that highlight his commitment to sustainability, accessibility, and technological innovation. As an Ambassador for the Carbon Drawdown Initiative, he promotes awareness of Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) solutions to address climate change and advance sustainable practices. In his role as Ambassador for Digital Accessibility and UX with AI at HeiRes, he advocates for inclusive digital experiences through the application of AI to improve accessibility and usability. Additionally, as an Adviser for the Baltics he supports the development of technology initiatives and workforce advancements in the Baltic region. These positions reflect his expertise and dedication to fostering impactful change across multiple domains.
